For complex sites that either have crowded conditions or wish to maximize their site by minimizing or eliminating detention ponds, bio-retention systems, which include bioswales, are the answer. We have designed a bio-retention media specifically for this purpose. Our media has the capability to absorb more water than natural soil by allowing it to percolate through the media at a faster rate. The water is then routed to a basin or pond and filtered through the system, where it is treated by naturally occurring biological processes. The cleaner water is allowed to infiltrate native soils or can be directed through under ground drains enabling the water to be reused for irrigation or other on-site purposes.
